Although prostitution is legal in the Netherlands, young men of Eastern European origin stand guard at the ends of alleyways and canal fronts carefully watching the activities of the young women. Although the nationality of this particular these young women are not known, many of the sex workers in Amsterdam and the Netherlands are from Eastern Europe.
